Happy birthday to Oliver!

A few weeks after Rachel and Henry's birthday, Oliver turned eight (August 17th).

Here he is with one of his main presents, a Star Wars Lego set that he had requested:
It was a big hit (and not just with Ollie):
Another one of his favorite presents was a "how to draw people" book:
He got started right away, and made this wonderful drawing/painting:

Oliver with his brothers and sisters and his two birthday pies (I promise he made the decision to have pie instead of cake before I gave up on fancy cakes.  He came up with the idea back in June when we were on our road trip - we all shared some chocolate peanut butter pie at TGI Fridays in Pittsburgh, and Oliver decided that was what he wanted on his birthday.  So we made our own version, plus a raspberry cream pie, and everyone was more than happy.)

Henry singing "Happy Birthday (cha cha cha)" to Oliver:

Our little pyro, lighting his own birthday candles:
Happy birthday, Oliver!

The next day, Oliver got to have a joint birthday party at the pool with one of his friends who also has a birthday in August.  His friend's mom planned and carried out the whole thing and did an awesome job - Oliver had so much fun.

The best thing about Oliver's birthday this year was he got to be baptized.

My dad flew into town so he could be here for the baptism, which really meant a lot to Oliver.
We are so thankful to have this amazing 8-year old in our family!

Congratulations on your baptism Oliver! Isn't 8 the best? That's a very impressive drawing too, and my boys would LOVE to play with your lego set. That's all Bradshaw ever wants for birthday/Christmas.

Your children's artwork takes my breath away.

These are great pictures. The first one of Oliver is delightful. And the one with your dad is great too. But the family photo is the best.

(I'm a little sad that I missed the fancy cake bandwagon. Oh well.)
