Tristan and Oliver doing Yoga

Last night we did Yoga as a family (minus Lizzy, who was in bed, and minus Rachel, who said she just wanted to watch and bring people water when they were thirsty).

It was the first time either Tristan or Oliver had done the floor poses, and I was surprised at how well they did. During the Locust pose, I sneaked a peek over at Tristan to give him some more instruction, and I was shocked that he was doing it better than I was. I rushed to get the camera and then took pictures of Tristan and Oliver in their Locust poses. There is also a picture of Tristan doing the Camel.

This morning Daniel and I were in bed trying to decide if we should get up or not, and Tristan came in and said, "It's 6:30 - can I get up and do Yoga with you guys?" I told him that we were going to go back to sleep and just do it tonight, and he could do it with us then. He said, "No, that's okay - I'll just do it right now by myself." He was pretty persistent, so I finally went out and got him set up with the DVD for the standing poses. I went back to bed for about 30 seconds, but I just kept thinking about him out there doing it all by himself so I finally got up and did it with him. Six-year olds doing Yoga can be very motivating.

The Lizard

Here's Tristan and Oliver holding a lizard that I caught. I found it outside on our front porch and spent about 20 minutes trying to catch it, with Tristan helpfully cheering me on the whole time ("It's right there, Mom! Get it! Oh, wait, now it's over here. Come on, you can do it!") .

We put it in a little jar and it kept changing colors from green to brown, which was very exciting. We even caught some little bugs and put them in the jar for it to eat, but it refused to touch them, and at the end of the day we set it free.

Craft Day

I've started saving different cartons and containers and odds and ends so the kids can make fun crafts. I don't usually do fun things like this, so they're loving it.

Bubbles

Here are some pictures of the kids doing bubbles on the back porch. They always ask to do bubbles, and I always say, "not now, not now", until finally I realized that it wasn't that big of a deal to just let them. They stayed out there a long time - it was definitely worth it.

Lizzy's Broken Tooth

Yesterday Lizzy banged her mouth on the bathtub and broke off a big chunk of one of her front teeth. It was (and is) awful. I'm taking her to the dentist tomorrow. I called and they said they will either shave it down or try to seal it somehow or put a crown on it. It has not stopped her from being reckless - she tries to walk around all day, but never does more than 3-4 steps before falling or lunging down onto something.

In real life, it actually looks worse than in the picture - more jaggedy and pointy, but it was hard to get the right angle. At least you can get the general idea.

Happy Father's Day!

These kids love their dad!
