Here are lots of pictures of February at the Mott house:
Tristan and Oliver playing basketball together. I loved that they were on the same team.
My oatmeal kids. This is Henry and Lizza’s favorite “half-way between breakfast and snack-time snack”.
Cynthia with her collection of blankets. I bought her a 4-pack of really thin swaddling blankets when she was born, and she has loved and cuddled them into a million different blanket shreds. She is very attached to all the little pieces, and likes to sleep with all of them and carry them around the house.
Cynthia keeping Henry company while he takes a time-out in the laundry room. One thing I love about Cindy is that she is always concerned about other people’s feelings. Whenever someone is hurt or sad, she is the first one to run over and offer a kiss. She thinks her kisses make everything better, and usually they do. (I should probably mention that sometimes she is the one who caused the hurt feelings to begin with, though – this morning I saw her get mad at Lizza and bite her on the back, and then immediately start patting Lizza and kissing her.)
Valentine’s Day – the kids getting ready to take all their cookies to school:
Tristan with his awesome Valentine notes:
Me, Lizza, and Henry playing a Valentine’s Day game of Memory:
Elizabeth likes to make things harder by setting up the cards in crazy patterns. She usually beats me when it’s like this, because I’m too used to keeping track of the cards by what row they’re in. This time she arranged the cards in the shape of a girl’s face – she’s wearing a snow hat and has two braids sticking out.
Daniel and I celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary at the Melting Pot in downtown Austin.
Rachel after getting her hair-cut. I love this picture because of Lizza stealing the show in the background.
Cynthia trying to squeeze her fat bottom into her little doll stroller.
Me trying to do yoga, but instead giving Batman/Henry an airplane ride (this happens a lot):
Cindy trying to give her dog an airplane ride:
Rachel (far left) at soccer practice:
And at her first game of the year:
It was freezing cold, so we all were pretty bundled up.
Tristan and Oliver started baseball that same day, with two games each. After Rachel’s soccer game I took the younger kids home for a nap, and then later that afternoon we joined Daniel and Tristan to watch one of Oliver’s games. Luckily it was a little warmer by then, and there was a great playground right by the field.
There was also lots of reading in February:
And coloring. Cynthia has decided that she is officially a big kid, and wants to start coloring all the time like they do. I love it.
I also love this video of Lizza and Cindy doing bubbles and laughing together:That’s it for February.

I love the pictures. You have a beautiful family. I agree about two kids on the same sports team. It makes life so much easier! One year Debby and Audrey were on the same softball team. And those games are long - so it was good to only have to go to one at a time.
I love the video- it made me laugh at how much Lizza sounds like Tristan. I had forgotten that. Lizza's memory card head is very cute. I could totally see what she was going for! I also love your valentine's outfit! So very cute and festive!
Once again I'm so inspired by your house of learning! Thank you for posting all the beautiful motivating pictures of your children reading. Even little Cynthia loves her books and that is just amazing! This is going to be a new goal for me, to encourage and read to my children. Awesome stuff!!
Love all the pics and especially love sweet little Cindy keeping Henry company in timeout. What a tender little girl : ) Also happy Anniversary!! Glad you guys could go out and celebrate!
I think that Wayne looks so much like Cindy. I don't know what it is, but I see such a similarity when I look at pictures of her. They are both adorable.
first of all, cute red pants and fun shirt. best mom outfit of the year, for sure! and your kids are pretty cute, too, as always. i would not even dare to try to beat lizza in a face-shaped memory game.
I don't even know where to start. Your kids are so cute and funny! I love how Cindy is keeping Henry company during nap time. For some reason my Elna sometimes reminds me of your Cindy-- maybe because she's just a funny girl too, I don't know-- but I could totally see Elna doing something like that. Your memory game outfit is so great-- the red pants, the animal print shirt. I need to go shopping with you. And I love that you take pictures of your kids doing funny random things. I need to remember to do that, especially as I have more kids and as they get older. You look like you are really having fun with your kids-- I bet they have such a great time with you!
